Mr. Md. Abdullahel Baki

Mr. Md. Abdullahel Baki is a distinguished legal professional with nearly two decades of experience in corporate and commercial law, litigation management, governance, and regulatory affairs. He currently serves as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Head of Legal at Bank Asia PLC, where he provides strategic legal leadership to safeguard the Bank’s interests while ensuring full compliance with national laws, banking regulations, and international standards.

In his role, Mr. Baki oversees all legal functions of the Bank, including advisory services, vetting and drafting of legal documents and contracts, litigation and dispute management, regulatory correspondence, loan documentation, and recovery-related legal actions. He plays a pivotal role in supporting the Bank’s Corporate, SME, and Retail business operations with legal risk assessment and structured legal solutions. He also advises Management and the Board on corporate governance, policy development, compliance frameworks, and legal implications of strategic business decisions. In addition, Mr. Baki leads engagements with external legal counsel, regulators, and government agencies including Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, and relevant judicial bodies.

Prior to joining Bank Asia PLC, Mr. Baki led the legal practice at Law Portal as Head of Dispute Resolution and served as Senior Associate at Law Valley and Nurul Amin & Associates, where he represented a wide range of clients in complex civil, banking, corporate, and commercial matters. His expertise spans litigation before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), risk mitigation, and policy formulation.

Mr. Baki is a Barrister-at-Law from the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He completed the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) and Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) from City, University of London, and obtained his LL.B (Hons) from the University of London. Earlier, he completed his BSS (Hons) in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a member of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and Bangladesh Bar Council.
