Bank Asia, National Life sign deal for credit card insurance coverage

Bank Asia Ltd recently signed an agreement with National Life Insurance Ltd for providing SafetyNet service for its clients having credit cards, says a press release.

Syed Anisul Huq, president and managing director of the bank, and Habibur Rahman Sikder, managing director of the insurance company, signed the deal on behalf of their sides.

Under the agreement, MasterCard brand credit card holders of Bank Asia will be insured to their outstanding amounts subject to permanent disability and death.

Bank Asia has recently launched a broad range of products and services in the retail banking sector including the MasterCard brand credit card. Its delivery channels encompass 24-branch network, shared and proprietary ATM (automated teller machine), mobile phone banking and internet banking.

Erfanuddin Ahmed, deputy managing director, and Nazneen Sultana, first vice president of Bank Asia, and Quamrul Hasan, deputy managing director of National Life Insurance, were also present at the signing ceremony.

New Chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks

Bank Asia donates to D.Net- Development Research Network

Bank Asia donates to D.Net- Development Research Network For establishing Computer Learning Centers. An agreement was signed between Bank Asia Limited and D.Net-Development Research Network on April 18, 2006. Syed Anisul Huq, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia and Dr. Ananya Raihan, Executive Director of D.Net-Development Research Network has signed the agreement for establishing three Computer Learning Centers (CLCs) at Malkhanagar, Tarail and Lohagara. As per the MOU Bank Asia will donate computers for establishing the Computer Learning Centers and bear operational expenses of the centers to be managed by D.Net. These centers will impart computer literacy training to the people in the rural areas. Bank Asia has been active in the social activities such as arranging eye camps for the poor, financing eye operations for born blind, providing scholarship to the rural poor and its poverty alleviation scheme operating through the rural branches are financially helping the poor.
